Plant-based Snackies: Delicious Kale Chip Recipe

Kale chips are a healthy, crispy snack that's easy to make at home.

Follow this recipe for a tasty treat!

  • 1 bunch of kale

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

  • Optional: other seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, or nutritional yeast

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. Prepare the Kale:

  • Wash and thoroughly dry the kale. It's important that the kale is completely dry to achieve maximum crispiness.

  • Remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear them into bite-sized pieces.

  1. Season the Kale:

  • Place the kale pieces in a large bowl.

  • Drizzle the olive oil over the kale. Use your hands to massage the oil into the leaves, ensuring each piece is evenly coated.

  • Sprinkle the sea salt (and any optional seasonings) over the kale and toss to distribute evenly.

  1. Bake the Kale:

  • Arrange the kale pieces in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Avoid overlapping the leaves to ensure they bake evenly.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, checking frequently after 15 minutes to ensure they don't burn. The kale chips are ready when they are crisp and slightly golden around the edges.

  1. Cool and Enjoy:

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the kale chips cool on the sheet for a few minutes.

  • Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to a few days.

Tips for Perfect Kale Chips:

  • Dry the Kale Thoroughly: Any moisture on the kale will cause it to steam and become soggy instead of crisp.

  • Even Coating: Make sure each piece of kale is evenly coated with oil and seasonings for uniform flavor and texture.

  • Don't Overlap: Spreading the kale out in a single layer ensures even baking.

  • Watch Closely: Kale chips can go from perfectly crispy to burnt very quickly, so keep a close eye on them as they bake.

Enjoy your homemade kale chips as a healthy snack or a crunchy topping for soups and salads!

Wishing you peace, prosperity and crispy kale!
